FAMILY VACATION August 2012

Yep, still trying to catch up.  Sheesh!
Well, we took our 1st Vacation that was longer than 3 hours.  We went to Oregon to go camping.  We had debated on what we were going to do, and then all summer long we had been looking to buy a camper-- well, we finally did it. Then a few days later we went to try it out.  I don't think we will ever go 9 hours again pulling a trailer, but it was an adventure.  We had some friends tell us about a place in Oregon, so we really didn't know where we were going.  We got in late and didn't quite know where to go, so we paid the night to stay in a KOA like place.  Wasn't quite our idea of camping-- we like the space to ourselves surrounded with the trees.  I know, a camper isn't camping either but--  OH MAN-- is it heavenly.  I love being able to use the bathroom and having somewhere to change!!  Not to mention all of our camping stuff together and all i have to do is pack clothes and food!!!

Our first night and first meal in the Trailer!!!  This was about 10 at night our time.  Our kids got out and ran and ran.  They were really good for that long of drive.

Well, we went to Wallowa Lake, Oregon.  It was beautiful.  After staying the night and then talking to some locals we went searching for our perfect camp ground.  FOUND IT!!  It was awesome.  Good thing we went early, cuz people were coming in as we were setting up.  It was nice for the kids.  We were by a COLD river-- the run off that went into the lake.  They made friends with a Lady from Washington who was by herself, Liz.   They would run down where she was camping to see if she was back yet.  I went down there one time and she had her maps out showing her where she had been.  She was super nice.  They also found a little girl that was visiting her grandparents to play with.  They lived in the area, but just came up to get away.  The kids played with her alot.  We rode our bikes into one of their little towns-- that didn't go well.  Wayyyy too far for the kids.  So, clay rode back and got the pick up.  Another day we went to the lake.  Very Very pretty, but ICY cold.  This is in the middle of August too.  We got to get really close to a Deer though.  The kids thought that was cool.

Clay decided to dip his head/face in it.  So of course the boys wanted to do the same!!  It was cold, so cold that clay said it made his head hurt.  That didn't stop them from doing it a couple of times though.

It  was a nice trip to get away, but wasn't what we pictured our 9 hour trip to be when we could have found that 3 hours away.  We left a day earlier than we had planned and told the kids we would hit the zoo on the way home.  It was great--- we got to see the Butterfly exhibit.  Oh man it was sooo cool.  We absolutely loved our camper.  It was a little stressful until we got the kids knowing the rules for the trailer.  We all survived though--  and we can't wait to go camping this summer again!!

When I first walked in the exhibit one automatically landed on me.  Then the boys had one land on them.  Jinettie tried so hard to get one to land on her, but it never did.  She pouted for awhile and then got over it.  They were so pretty and just fun to go in there and have them flying all over!

We spent a lot of time in the exhibit and since it was close to closing we buzzed through the rest of it.
